‍ ‍ About Joe Finlayson

Joe Finlayson teaches mathematics at The Calverton School and holds a master's degree in education from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Before teaching, he worked as an adventure athlete for Eastern Mountain Sports, spending years guiding, climbing, paddling, and generally making the sort of decisions that seem profound at twenty-five and medically inadvisable at forty.

A Navy brat by upbringing, he considers Fleming Island, where he's from, though he now lives in Calvert County, MD, with his wife, who is from Dublin, and their four children. The family continues to spend summers in Ireland, where the weather remains committed to the principle of narrative tension.
